After your surgery, once it is safe to do so, you will be moved to the Surgical Inpatient Unit.
The Surgical Inpatient Unit is located on Level 5 of the South tower.
The Surgical Inpatient Unit has private and standard ward rooms.
If you have private health care insurance and would like to arrange specific accommodations, please inform the nurse during your pre-operative planning appointment.
While on the Surgical Inpatient Unit you will be cared for by a Nurse and Physician. Depending on the type of surgery you had, you may also have a Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist involved in your care. Your discharge home may involve multiple members of our multi-disciplinary team. We will work with you to get you you home as soon as it is safe to do so.
When it is time for you to go home, we will provide you with information about after-care, follow-up appointments and community resources available during your recovery.
We aim to discharge patients from the Surgical Inpatient Unit early in the day. We ask that you please ensure your ride is ready and available to pick you up.
Joseph Brant Hospital is committed to safe, quality, patient-centered care. To ensure the safety of patients, visitors and staff, we have made some important changes. Please review them before coming to hospital.
