Ambulatory Procedures

If you require a minor procedure that does not require sedation and can be done under local anesthetic (freezing), your Surgeon may schedule your procedure in the Ambulatory Procedures Unit. 

You may come to the Ambulatory Procedures Unit if you require a minor General, Gynecological, Plastics, Urology or Orthopedic procedure.

You may also be seen in the Ambulatory Procedure Unit for a consultation with a surgeon or for a follow-up appointment.

Location

The Ambulatory Procedures Unit is located on Level 2 of the South Tower.

Hours of Operation

Procedures are scheduled between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. 

Preparation

The type of procedure you are having will determine the steps you need to take to prepare yourself. Follow the directions provided to you by your surgeon.

What to Expect

On the day of your procedure

  • Arrive 30 minutes before your appointment.
  • Check-in at the registration desk on Level 2 of the South Tower
  • Procedures usually take less than 30 minutes.

What to bring with you

  • If you require assistance with ambulation, toileting or dressing, bring a support person with you on the day of your procedure. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only one person can accompany you.
  • Be sure to bring any pertinent information from your referring physician (documents, X-ray reports, test results).
