Recruiting for Directors and Community Representatives

Joseph Brant Hospital is a full service community teaching hospital serving more than 185,000 residents in the communities of Halton and Hamilton, including Burlington, Waterdown, Flamborough, Milton and Stoney Creek, with a skilled staff of 194 physicians, 1,911 full- and part-time staff and more than 700 volunteers.

In conjunction with McMaster University, Joseph Brant Hospital is a Clinical Education site, and designated as an Academic Community Teaching Hospital with an expanded campus which includes the seven-storey state-of-art Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower, housing JBH's Emergency Department, 172 additional acute inpatient beds, 9 new Operating Rooms and post-anaesthetic care unit to support expanded medical, surgical and outpatient services. Joseph Brant Hospital is also a partner member of the Burlington Ontario Health Team.

Candidate Experience & Qualifications

Board Candidates

The hospital is seeking to recruit four (4) new Board members who will reflect the hospital's needs and aspirations with respect to knowledge, attributes, competencies and experience.

The ideal Board candidate will possess demonstrated leadership and governance experience and a commitment to our Vision, Mission and Values. The candidate will be a systems thinker, reflective of the diverse community Joseph Brant Hospital serves; has previous Board governance experience; has or is working towards, a Chartered Director or Institute of Corporate Directors designation or equivalent which will be considered an asset.

To complement the existing Board of Directors’ background, the Board is interested in hearing from leaders who possess these core competencies as well as any of the following experience profiles:

  • Information Technology
  • Human Resources 
  • Healthcare Services Provider
  • Finance (CPA)

Community Representatives

The hospital is seeking three (3) Community Representatives to serve on its sub-Committees of the Board.

Potential candidates will be members of the community served by Joseph Brant Hospital with demonstrated commitment through participation in community endeavours, whether as a Board member or in a volunteer capacity. Preference will be given to individuals who have had previous experience serving on Boards in a volunteer capacity and proven community involvement.

To complement the existing skillsets, the Board is interested in hearing from individuals who possess the following experience profiles to serve on the following sub-Committees:

  • One (1) position: Finance & Audit Committee - CPA Designation
  • Two (2) positions: Quality Committee - Continuous Quality Improvement Experience
