Guidelines for COVID-19 Assessment & Testing

Testing is an important part of reducing the spread of COVID-19. The Ministry of Health recently introduced new COVID-19 testing criteria to prioritize testing for those who are at greatest risk.

Please review the provincial criteria and book a COVID-19 test, if:

  • You are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
  • You have been notified by a public health unit or the COVID Alert app that you have been exposed to a confirmed case of the virus
  • You belong to a specific group outlined in guidance from the Chief Medical Officer of Health
  • You are eligible for testing as an employee or volunteer in Long-term Care or congregate setting
  • You are eligible for testing as part of a targeted testing initiative as determined by the Ministry of Health or Ministry of Long-term Care or public health (resident or visitors of long-term care homes or congregate settings)
  • You require testing because you have a scheduled surgery or procedure at Joseph Brant Hospital

Joseph Brant Hospital COVID-19 Assessment Centre 

Joseph Brant Hospital offers COVID-19 assessment and testing. For your safety, assessment and testing is by appointment only. We do not take walk-ins.

How to Book an Appointment

  • Book online
  • Call 905-632-3737 ext. 6550. Phone lines are open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Leave a message with your name and contact information.  You will be called back to arrange your appointment. 
  • COVID-19 testing appointments are available 7 days a week between 10 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Cancelling an Appointment

If you are unable to keep your appointment, please cancel so others can access this booking time.

Instructions for cancelling your appointment can be found in your appointment email. You can also cancel by calling 905-632-3737 ext. 6550. Please follow the prompts. 

What to Expect 

Please come to the COVID-19 Testing Centre at your scheduled time with your health card. You will be registered, assessed, tested and counselled about the next steps.

Getting Your Results

There are three ways to get your results:

  1. Access results online using MyChart™. MyChart™ is a free, secure online tool providing patients access to medical records and personal health information. If you do not have a MyChart™ account, you can register for one online.
  2. Contact your family physician.
  3. Visit and select “Check your lab results”

Individuals who test positive for COVID will be contacted by Halton Region Public Health.

Red and White Health Cards, Expired Health Cards & Out of Province 

Individuals who are not able to look up their results online can call 905-632-3737 ext. 6550 after five (5) days to see if their results are available.

All other individuals are asked to continue checking the provincial website.

Result wait-times

Tests completed at our clinic or drive-thru are sent to a provincial laboratory for processing. The time you wait for your result is beyond our control. 

Location & Parking

The Assessment Centre is located in the North tower—adjacent to North Shore Boulevard and Maple Avenue. Do not enter the hospital. 

To get to the Assessment Centre, use the parking lot off North Shore Boulevard. Follow posted signage to the rear of the lot and park in a reserved space.

Parking spaces for the Assessment Centre are clearly marked.

Other Options for Assessment & Testing


If you are experiencing severe symptoms, please go to your nearest Emergency Department or call 911.


The Government of Ontario has introduced a plan to provide additional testing at pharmacies. Testing is for people with no symptoms of COVID-19.
