For several years, Joseph Brant Hospital (JBH) has drawn upon a variety of patient and family engagement activities to inform continuous improvement in care and service. A Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) was established in September 2020 to enhance and formalize our on-going commitment to patient and family engagement and help to inform the delivery of patient-centered care.
The PFAC is a formal body within the JBH organization that serves to act as a central source of consultation for improvement and design activities, and to guide the ongoing refinement and growth of Patient and Family Advisory activities across JBH.
We are currently recruiting Patient and Family Advisors to actively partner with JBH staff, Physicians, Volunteers and Learners in areas across JBH. This is an exciting step forward in integrating the valuable experience and perspectives of patients and family members directly into new projects and ongoing improvement work.
We are looking for JBH Patient and Family Advisor candidates with the following characteristics:
Joseph Brant Hospital is committed to Diversity and Inclusion, and we welcome new members who reflect the diverse community JBH serves as we continue and expand our efforts to become a more inclusive, safe and respectful place for everyone to visit, work and receive care.
An opportunity to make a difference by bringing the perspective of the patient or family member into meaningful discussions
An opportunity to expand your knowledge about your hospital and healthcare system
Serving as a PFA is a serious commitment. Before you apply, we want to make sure that you understand the role for which you are volunteering.
We will look to match applicants to Patient and Family Advisor activities that are most relevant to their interests and experiences within the healthcare system
Hours will vary depending upon the nature of the work at hand. We will look to match your activities to your availability
This role has certain boundaries and does not include any clinical tasks legally performed by a healthcare professional (such as a physician, pharmacist, physiotherapist, laboratory technician, etc.)
The Patient Family Advisor Role Description will not allow you the opportunity to practice or develop your clinical or technical skills.
