The hospital is seeking to recruit new Board members who will refl ect the hospital’s needs and aspirations with respect to knowledge, attributes, competencies and experience.

The ideal Board candidate will be a systems thinker, reflective of the diverse community JBH serves and who has or is working towards, a Chartered Director, or Institute of Corporate Directors designation. He/she will possess demonstrated leadership and governance experience and a commitment to our Vision, Purpose and Values.

To complement the existing Board of Directors’ background, the Board is interested in hearing from leaders who possess these core competencies as well as any of the following experience profiles:

  • Accounting Designation
  • Public Sector Leadership
  • Technology

Community Representatives

The hospital is also seeking Community Representatives to serve on its sub-committees of the Board. Potential candidates will be members of the community served by JBH with demonstrated commitment to the community through participation in community endeavours, whether as a Board member or in a volunteer capacity.

Preference will be given to individuals who have had previous experience serving on Boards in a volunteer capacity and proven community involvement.

About our Board of Directors

The Joseph Brant Hospital Board of Directors consists of:

  • 12 voting Directors who are elected by the members
  • 1 ex officio member who is entitled to vote appointed from the Municipal Council of the City of Burlington
  • 5 non-voting ex officio members
    • President & Chief Executive Officer
    • Chief Nursing Executive
    • Chief of Staff
    • President, Medical Staff Association
    • Vice President, Medical Staff Association

The Board of Directors shall govern and oversee the management of the affairs of the Corporation. The Board, being accountable for quality, shall ensure mechanisms and policies are in place to provide a high quality of care for patients.
