Recognizing Medical Staff Achievements at JBH: MSA Awards 2022

At Joseph Brant Hospital, we are incredibly proud of the caliber and skill of all our medical staff. Especially over the last two and a half years of the pandemic.

In 2019, our Medical Staff Association (MSA) established the MSA awards as a way to enable the physicians at JBH to celebrate each other’s contributions.The award nominations are open to all JBH medical and professional staff including physicians, dentists and midwives.

Excellence in Teaching Award: Dr. Noel Amaladoss

The Excellence in Teaching Award has been awarded to Dr. Noel Amaladoss.

For many years Dr. Amaladoss has been recognized as a wonderful clinical teacher and he regularly receives great reviews from all students and residents on their psychiatry rotation. This year, he was also recognized at McMaster University for the Excellence in Teaching Award in psychiatry.

Foundation Recognition Award: Dr. Frank Fornasier

The Foundation Recognition Award recipient for 2022 is Dr. Frank Fornasier.

Dr. Fornasier is a wonderful supporter of the Foundation, including J-Talks, participating in events, being a donor and bringing the Gifts of Gratitude program to life. He also sits on the Foundation’s Board of Directors.  

Quality Improvement Award: Dr. Sara Bacopulos

The Quality Improvement Award has been awarded to Dr. Sara Bacopulos.

Dr. Bacopulos is a true champion of patient care and her constant drive to provide the best patient care day in and day out is inspirational. As a fierce advocate for her patients, she pushes all those around her to be their best. Her work in the Complete Breast Care Clinic is a perfect example of why she is so deserving of this award.

Outstanding Consultant Award: Dr. Ivan Dzaja

The Consultant Award has been awarded to Dr. Ivan Dzaja.

Dr. Dzaja is always responsive, courteous and willing to help. His calm and pleasant demeanor puts everyone at ease. Along with being a team player, he truly promotes a collegial, healthy environment everywhere he goes.

Rising Star Award:  Dr. Jeffrey McCarthy

The Rising Star Award has been awarded to Dr. Jeffrey McCarthy.

Dr. McCarthy has been an integral part of the Palliative Care team helping to expand the Outpatient Palliative Care Clinic. He is compassionate, empathetic and caring in every patient encounter. He has also been involved in helping to establish a more integrated palliative care service, including home visits.

He is also a core member of the Clinical Skills curriculum at McMaster University and is an excellence teacher for students and residents.

Dr. W. Love Sr. Distinction Award

The final award, the Dr. W. Love Sr. Distinction Award, was named in memory of Dr. Love Sr. who practiced medicine for 44 years and cared for many patients at Joseph Brant Hospital. This award has been awarded to Dr. Arshad Hack.

Dr. Hack’s dedication to his patients and colleagues has shone over the course of the pandemic. His leadership, ability to connect with those around him and agility in providing excellent patient care is inspirational.
