Parking Lots

Visitor parking is available off Lakeshore Rd. and North Shore Blvd. Designated accessible parking is available in both.  

Parking proceeds are used to support maintenance of supervision of our parking garages and lots. The remaining proceeds are used to support patient care.

Lakeshore Rd.

Access to our South Tower and Emergency Department, Main Entrance and Parking Garage is located at 1221 Lakeshore Road

  • Continue on North Shore Blvd. to Lakeshore Rd. 
  • Turn right on Lakeshore Rd.
  • Turn right at the first lights on Lakeshore Rd. 
  • Make an immediate left into the parking garage through the lift gates. 

North Shore Blvd. 

Access to our North Tower and Ambulatory Care is located at 1230 North Shore Boulevard.

  • Turn right at the lights between the hospital and the Joseph Brant Community Health Centre.
  • Make an immediate left through the lift gates.

Electric Vehicles (EV)

Joseph Brant Hospital has partnered with ChargePoint to offer electric vehicle (EV) charging. ChargePoint is the largest electric charging network for businesses and drivers.

EV charging stations are located near all major entrances and level 1 of the Parking Garage.

How to Charge Your Vehicle

EV charging is pay per use. EV owners who wish to charge a vehicle at JBH, must create an account to join the ChargePoint network.

Rates & Terms of Use

  • EV Charging Rate $1.60/hr.   
  • $10.00/hr when not charging (after 30 minute grace period) to a maximum of $25.00 per session
  • EV charging stations are available on a first come, first served basis.
  • EV charging stations are for charging only, no parking.
  • EV charging is time limited.
  • Users will be notified via ChargePoint 30 minutes before their charging session ends. At that time, users are to make their way to move their vehicle from the charging station.
  • If the vehicle is still plugged in to the charger after the final notice period, a penalty charge will commence.
  • Failure to move the vehicle after charging can be grounds for loss of parking privileges.

Short-Term Parking

Pick-up & Drop-off

Patients and visitors will not be charged for pick-up and drop-off if 20 minutes or less. 

Pay & Display 

The Pay & Display lot is located at the Main Entrance, along Lakeshore Road. Parking permits (tickets) must be purchased on arrival and displayed on the vehicle dashboard. Permit machines are located within the lot.

Permits purchased for the garage and lots along North Shore Road are not transferable. They cannot be used in the Pay & Display lot. 

Daily Parking 

Parking permits (tickets) are issued on entry to our gated parking lots. Take your permit with you inside the hospital. Payment is made at a parking pay station on departure.

Fees are calculated according to the date and time printed on the permit.

Rates are as follows:

  • Each half hour or less (to a maximum of 2.5 hours) - $4.00
  • Day rate (2.5 hours to midnight) - $19.00
  • Day Pass (in-and-out privileges to a maximum of 24 hours) - $19.00
  • Lost Ticket - $19.00

Multi-Day Parking

Day pass and multi-day passes must be purchased at the Parking Office (kiosk). It is located just outside the Ambulatory Care entrance along Northshore Road.

H-Pass

In accordance with government regulation, Joseph Brant Hospital offers the H-PASS. A multi-day, reduced rate parking pass for regular visitors. 

  • 5 day H-PASS - $47.50
  • 10 day H-PASS - $95.00
  • 30 day H-PAS­S - $285.00       

H-Pass Features

  • Valid for use in all gated parking lots (excluding the Pay & Display lot) 
  • Transferable among patients, their visitors and vehicles
  • Equipped with in-and-out privileges within a 24-hour period
  • Valid for consecutive or non-consecutive days
  • Good for one year from the date of purchase 

Entering & Exiting with an H-Pass:

  • Stop at the gate 
  • Insert the H-Pass in the yellow slot for validation
  • After validation, the gate will open and the H-Pass will be returned
  • Proceed with caution

Monthly Pass (Consecutive Days)

Unlike the H-PASS, the 30 Day Pass must be used on consecutive days, and is not transferable. It is offered for $55.55.       

Contractor parking

While working on site, contractors must have an access badge and parking permit.

  • Parking permits can be obtained from the parking office (kiosk). It is located just outside the Ambulatory Care entrance along Northshore Road.
  • Access badges can be obtained through the Access Control Office

Where to park  

  • Vehicles under 2.7m (8’-10”) height must park in the parking garage on levels 3 and 4
  • Oversized vehicles must park in parking lot 12 behind the parking garage.

Payment Options

  • Pay and Display parking permits (tickets) must be purchased on arrival. Permit machines are located within the lot.
  • Daily permits can be purchased at one of our three Pay Stations. Pay Stations are located at hospital entrances and in the Joyce Family Atrium (lobby).
  • Day passes and multi-day passes can be purchased at any of the Pay Stations or the Parking Office (kiosk). The parking kiosk is located just outside the Ambulatory Care entrance along Northshore Road.

Conditions, Regulations & Enforcement

Regulations 

All vehicle operators are required to comply with Joseph Brant Hospital parking and traffic regulations. These regulations align with the Highway Traffic Act. 

Violations of parking regulations are subject to penalties and enforcement actions by Joseph Brant Hospital and Municipal By-Law Enforcement Officers, where applicable. 

Examples of violations include, but are not limited to:

  • Unauthorized parking, such as double-parking or obstructing pedestrian or vehicular traffic.
  • Parking in areas or sections without a valid and displayed parking permit.
  • Parking in emergency or loading zones, roadways, lanes, driveways, fire routes, walkways, grassed or landscaped areas, or exceeding time limits in restricted zones without proper authorization.
  • Parking in designated "No Parking" areas.
  • Parking in unauthorized areas, including parking areas for:
    • On-call physicians
    • Oncology patients
    • Emergency vehicles,
    • The Halton McMaster Family Health Centre (HMFHC)
    • The Joseph Brant Community Health Centre (JBCHC)
    • Barrier-free or restricted areas
    • Parking in electric vehicle charging station and not charging vehicle.
    • Parking in electric vehicle charging station with non-EV vehicle at any time.
    • Failure to display the issued parking permit.
    • Disobeying directions from Security or Parking Office staff related to traffic or parking.
    • Careless driving on Joseph Brant Hospital property, including exceeding the speed limit of 15 kilometers (km/h) per hour and/or disregarding traffic signs.
    • Incidents that violate the Joseph Brant Hospital Code of Conduct Policy.

Enforcement

Actions resulting from violations can include:

  • warnings
  • withdrawal of parking privileges
  • towing of vehicles at owners expense
  • fines
  • legal action

Appeals

Violations of parking regulations resulting in fines or penalties may be disputed through the issuer.  

Abandoned Vehicles

At Joseph Brant Hospital, we kindly request that vehicles not be left unattended on our property for more than 48 hours. If you anticipate needing to park your vehicle for an extended period of time, please inform the Parking Office or Security in advance.

Accidents & Vandalism

While we strive to maintain a safe environment, Joseph Brant Hospital cannot accept liability for the security of vehicles, their contents, or any resulting loss, damage, or injuries that may occur in our designated parking areas.

ChargePoint Assistance for EV Drivers

Parking Attendants & Support

  • Support is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • If you require help entering or exiting, press the red assistance button for remote assistance. 
  • Security is provided by Palladin Security (24 hours a day, 7 days a week).
  • Security staff patrol the parking areas at regular intervals to monitor parking, and ensure a safe and secure environment.
