For the tenth year in a row, Joseph Brant Hospital has been selected as one of Hamilton-Niagara's Top Employers. This is an honour that showcases our greatest asset – our people, who bring their talents, skills and compassion to work on a daily basis.
As part of JBH’s ongoing commitment to Nurture and Support Our People, a new and exciting recognition program was launched in June 2024 to acknowledge and thank JBH’s incredible teams for their meaningful contributions to the hospital.
“When creating our new recognition program, inclusivity was at its core,” said Maddison Hawke, Organizational Development Specialist. “We aimed to celebrate the contributions of individuals in all areas of the organization. This philosophy is evident in our JBH Awards of Excellence. By establishing distinct categories for staff, leaders, physicians, and volunteers, we ensure that everyone who plays a vital role in our success is recognized. Each group can see themselves represented, reinforcing our commitment to honoring those who truly embody our CARE values and contribute to driving our mission forward.”
The program features new Awards of Excellence honouring individuals and teams for their outstanding contributions across nine distinct categories that reflect our core values, including patient experience and compassion, respect for diversity, excellence and quality, and teamwork and collaboration.
When the inaugural call for nominees for the Awards of Excellence went out internally last fall, 121 nominations flooded in – each one telling a story of dedication, kindness, and excellence. An Awards Selection Committee, composed of physicians, volunteers, and staff, was involved in selecting the award recipients.
These awards are more than accolades—they represent our collective commitment to compassion, excellence, and the vibrant spirit of Joseph Brant Hospital.
Patricia Medeiros received the Mentorship Award for her work in supporting occupational therapists at JBH and embodies this ethos. "It is our role to invest in the future of healthcare and what better way to do this then by being a mentor,” she said. “It is easy to teach what I love and that is being an Occupational Therapist.”
The entire recognition program is designed to inspire a culture of appreciation, collaboration, and shared pride within our hospital community. To every member of our JBH team: thank you for your hard work and commitment to our hospital. Together, we are able to make a profound impact on our patients, their families, and our community.
