Michael Lee-Chin and Family Patient Tower

Opened August 21, 2017

The Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower opened on August 21, 2017. The new state-of-the-art facility combines technology, open spaces, and a calming environment to encourage health and healing. 

Feature Highlights 

• A covered foot bridge connecting the parking garage with the Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower.
• A new Emergency Department (ED)
• 172 acute inpatient beds
• 9 new Operating Rooms (OR) and a new post-anaesthetic care unit (PACU)
• Expanded Diagnostic Imaging (DI) department and associated services
• Expanded medical, surgical and outpatient services
• Expanded Cancer Clinic
• Expanded Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Renovated Special Care Nursery, level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
• Expanded and modernized laboratory
• 70 per cent single-patient rooms across the hospital

New Emergency Department (ED)

The new ED opened on Sunday, August 20, 2017 at 6 a.m., immediately following the permanent closure of our existing ED.  The new ED is located on the Main level of the Michael Lee-Chin & Family Patient Tower.

Our Address is Changing

As of August 20, 2017 our address has changed to 1245 Lakeshore Road, where the new Main Entrance and Emergency Department entrance is located.
