Infection Prevention

Joseph Brant Hospital is committed to providing a safe environment for patients, families, visitors and staff. To help prevent the spread of infections we ask that you refer to our:

Protect yourself and others

The best way to control the spread of respiratory viruses including COVID-19 is to:

  • Get tested for COVID-19 if you have a symptom or are concerned that you have been exposed;
  • Create a social circle of no more than 10 people, including your own household. These are people with whom you can have close contact;
  • Practice physical distancing (social distancing) by maintaining a 2 metre (6 foot) distance from others, outside of your social circle;
  • Wear a face covering or non-medical mask in all public indoor spaces and in any other settings where physical distancing cannot be maintained;
  • Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue or sleeve;
  • Avoid touching your eyes, mouth and nose;
  • Practice good hand hygiene. Wash hands frequently with soap and water or with alcohol-based hand rub;
  • clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces;
  • avoid all non-essential travel outside of Canada
  • Maintain a healthy lifestyle, including a healthy diet, staying active and enough sleep, to support your body’s immune system.
