Cold & Flu Activity

Health care experts are predicting a particularly challenging cold and flu season. If accurate, we can expect an increase in patient volumes and acuity between December and March —this is referred to as winter surge.

Protect Yourself & Others

There are things you can do to help us deliver safe, effective and timely care this winter:

  • Get the flu shot
  • Wash your hands thoroughly / Use hand sanitizer
  • Disinfect common surfaces
  • Maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle
  • Know your options for care

Influenza (The Flu)

The flu is active in the community and at Joseph Brant Hospital. Activity is likely to increase, with the peak of the flu season expected during and immediately after the holidays.

The Flu Shot

The best way to prevent the flu is by getting the flu shot. It is recommended for those six (6) months of age and older.

Maintaining Safe, Quality Care

To ensure we continue to meet the needs of patients and the community, additional patient care areas may be added. Some of these areas may be located in space that was once a common area or corridor.

Regardless of where it is delivered, we are committed to exemplary health care.
