Joseph Brant Hospital’s Mission is to provide quality patient care. One way we do this is through our organizational values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence (CARE).

Throughout the summer, we will be featuring stories about our staff who have lived our organization’s values and have worked behind the scenes contributing to patient, visitor and community care, and hospital operations throughout the pandemic.

Amanda has been an Admitting and Registration Clerk II in Ambulatory Care at Joseph Brant Hospital for over two years.

Thanks to her positive attitude and dedication to helping our hospital serve the community, Amanda demonstrated our hospital’s Mission of providing quality patient care and organizational values during the pandemic. As new pandemic regulations were being implemented and the hospital had to rapidly shift to meet these regulations, clinical and corporate staff were redeployed to various areas of the hospital to help where it was needed most.

Amanda was part of the first group of staff who were redeployed to work in the COVID-19 Assessment Centre.

“I went from my usual role as a Clerk working in Ambulatory Care to being a part of the hospital’s COVID-19 response and working in the COVID-19 Assessment Centre.”

Like she does working in Ambulatory Care, Amanda ensured that anyone coming into the hospital for a COVID-19 assessment continued to receive quality, patient care and often worked overtime through evenings and weekends to meet the demands of COVID-19 testing needs.

“Staff really came together to support one another throughout the pandemic. In order to keep up with the demand of testing requests, many of us worked overtime to ensure that whoever needed to receive a test could receive one.”

We asked Amanda what she was most proud of in her contributions to our hospital during the pandemic.

“I am most proud of how I ensured that anyone I had contact with was provided with compassionate care. It was a very overwhelming time for everyone and I worked to ensure that all their questions were answered and tried my best to be a friendly face (behind my mask) to others!”
