The Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP)

OBSP is a province-wide, organized breast screening program. Joseph Brant Hospital is a recognized partner, providing high-quality breast cancer screening. 

Breast Screening Eligibility

Breast screening is available to women, without a doctor's referral, who:

  • Are Ontario residents

  • Are 40 years of age or over

  • Have no acute breast symptoms
  • Have no personal history of breast cancer and no history of breast implants

Appointments

Appointments may be booked by calling the Women's Imaging Centre at 905-681-4915 . No doctor's referral is necessary through the OBSP program. 

For anyone who does not qualify for OBSP Breast Screening, please contact your doctor for a referral for breast screening at JBH. 

Appointment Reminders

After your first breast screening, the OBSP will send you a yearly reminder. The letter will include a suggested date and location of your next screening. Find out more here: The Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP)

State-Of-The-Art Digital Mammography System

Joseph Brant Hospital performs breast screening on our state-of-the-art Digital Mammography System. It offers stunning attention to detail and image quality, with a low dose of radiation. 

The Digital Mammography System aids in early identification and diagnosis. Meaning:

  • There may be more treatment options.
  • There is a better chance of successful treatment.
  • It is less likely to spread.

Sensory Suite

Mammograms are performed in our Sensory Suite.  This unique space has been designed to reduce anxieties often associated with screening. It features an interactive auditory and visual system.  Women can choose one of three ambient environments: Seaside, Garden or Waterfall.
