The Pre-Operative Planning Clinic is open to patients scheduled for a surgical procedure at our hospital.
Location
Pre-operative Clinic is located on Level 1 of the North Tower in Ambulatory Care
Hours of Operation
Monday to Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Referrals
Patients are seen by referral from their surgeon. Once referred, we will call you to book an appointment.
Depending on your booking you may be scheduled to see an Anesthesiologist and/or Internal Medicine Physician, or just a Nurse.
Patients not requiring pre-operative medicine or pre-operative anesthesia will be contacted by telephone by one of our pre-operative nurses.

Preparation
- Ensure you have your Ontario Health Card or proof of medical coverage.
- Prepare a list of current prescription and non-prescription medication.
- Obtain a MedsCheck from your community pharmacy
- Review your pre-operative planning package.
- Complete all relevant forms and documentation.
- Write down any questions you may have.
- Review relevant pre-operative instructions

Joint Replacement Surgery
In addition, if you are having a joint replacement surgery, please complete the form below. Please print the form and bring to your in-person appointment.
What to expect
- Arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment
- Check-in at the Ambulatory Care Registration desk
- Your visit may take up to 3-4 hours.
- Blood and other laboratory work may be required depending on the assessment.
- X-Ray will be done for all joint replacements.
