General Internal Medicine Rapid Assessment Clinic (GIMRAC) is an acute medicine clinic with the main focus of providing urgent consultation from an internal medicine specialist to people who would otherwise require ED consultation or being admitted.
Location
GIMRAC is located within Ambulatory Care on Level 1 of the North tower, 1N 600.
Hours of Operation
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Referrals
Patients are seen by referral.
Physician
Referrals must be completed by a physician. To refer a patient for GIMRAC, complete the Ambulatory Care Referral form and fax to 905-681-4879.
Referrals are typically obtained following a visit and/or discharge from the hospital.

Once referred, the Scheduling Office will call you to book an appointment within 72 hours.

- Prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of internal diseases.
- Management of multi-system disorders and diseases.

- Ensure you have your Ontario Health Card or proof of medical coverage
- Pack all current prescription and non-prescription medications
- Arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment
- Check-in at the registration desk

- Your health care team may consist of a nurse and internist (internal medicine physician).
- Blood and other laboratory work may be required depending on the assessment.
