The Auxiliary to Joseph Brant Hospital was founded in 1959, two years before the hospital opened. The long standing dedication of the Joseph Brant Hospital Auxiliary has its roots in helping to build the hospital.
In January 2012, the Auxiliary announced its pledge of $5 million for the Campaign to support Joseph Brant's Redevelopment and Expansion Project. This pledge is the largest single donation in the Hospital's history and reflects the dedication and commitment of the Auxiliary and Volunteers, for who we are incredibly grateful.
The Auxiliary generates revenue from its various businesses & fundraising including:
- On-site Tim Hortons
- Gift Shop
- Vendor Market
- Antiques & Collectibles Auction
Activities & Events
Since 1997, the Antique and Collectibles Auction was a much-anticipated event, offering the chance to give a second life to rare and interesting items donated by the community. After 26 years, the final auction was held when the hardworking, dedicated volunteers made the difficult decision to hang up the gavel.
For Joseph Brant Hospital, the auction was one of our most important and exciting annual fundraising activities that supported Joseph Brant Hospital in the purchase of needed medical equipment.
Recognizing the community still has a desire to support Joseph Brant Hospital we will accept donations of gold or silver jewelry only. As there will not be any further auctions, we are not able to accept any other donations. We appreciate the generosity of the community over the past 26 years.
Over the years, more than $1.1 Million was raised and used to:
- Purchase specialty stretchers for the Emergency Unit, ICU Transport Monitors, Vital Signs Monitors
- Contribute to the Critical Needs Campaign: Pediatric Scale, MDU & Radiology
- Surgical Lights for the Operating Room Suites
- Ultrasound for the ICU and Surgical Headlights
- Purchased an Emergency Department Management System
- Funds raised have supported JBH development efforts including the patient tower which was completed in 2016

Auxiliary today
Though the auxiliary dissolved in 2018, many Auxilians still continue as active volunteers and their legacy continues to be felt throughout the Hospital.
