August 21, 2017 will be an important day for residents of Burlington as the new Michael Lee-Chin and Family Patient Tower opens to provide care to our community. In the new tower will be the Main Hospital Lobby, Information Desk, Gift Shop, Emergency Department, Cancer Clinic, Surgery, Intensive Care Unit and Acute Medicine.

The new Joseph Brant Hospital address is 1245 Lakeshore Road. The Main Entrance and Emergency Department entrance are now located in the Patient Tower and accessed from Lakeshore Road. The main phone number will remain the same: 905-632-3737.

Our Redevelopment and Expansion Project to build our new hospital is completed in two distinct phases:

Phase One

Phase one was the construction of the Halton McMaster Family Health Centre, hospital administration and new parking facility. These spaces are complete and in full operation.

Highlights of our new building include:

The Halton McMaster Family Health Centre (HMFHC) and parking facility are located at 1221 Lakeshore Road.

Phase Two

Phase two is the construction of the Michael Lee-Chin and Family Patient Tower and renovations to the existing hospital.

The Michael Lee-Chin and Family Patient Tower opens on August 21, 2017. The construction of our seven-storey patient tower took place over 28 months and has set the stage for Our New Era in health care.

The new hospital was designed with patients and staff in mind. Our state-of-the-art facility combines technology, open spaces, and a calming environment to encourage health and healing. Our new hospital allows us to ensure quality care in an expanded modern facility.

Main highlights of our new hospital include:

  • A covered foot bridge connects the parking facility and the Michael Lee-Chin and Family Patient Tower.
  • A new Emergency Department
  • 172 acute inpatient beds
  • 9 new Operating Rooms and a new post-anaesthetic care unit
  • An expanded Diagnostic Imaging department and associated services
  • Expanded medical, surgical and outpatient services
  • An expanded Cancer Clinic
  • An expanded Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and renovated Special Care Nursery - level 2 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • An expanded and modernized laboratory
  • 70 per cent single-patient rooms across the hospital
