The General Internal Medicine Rapid Assessment (GIMRAC) Clinic is now located at 1N600 on Level 1 of the North Tower within the Ambulatory Care Clinic Area. 

Hours of Operation

The clinic operates Monday- Friday between the hours of 8:30am - 4:30pm.

The clinic is closed on weekends and statutory holidays.  

The General Internal Medicine Rapid Assessment Clinic provides care for patients requiring a rapid assessment and not necessarily urgent care or admission to hospital. Your physician has made a referral to the GIMRAC Clinic for a follow up appointment after your current visit/discharge.

Upon receiving your referral, you should receive a call from the GIMRAC clinic to book an appointment within 48-72 hours. Referred patients will be seen by an internal medicine specialist for assessment, tests and the support of an interdisciplinary team.

Your interdisciplinary team may consist of:

  • Pharmacist
  • An Internal Medicine Specialist
  • Registered Nurse
  • Outpatient Navigator

What to expect:

Your visit may take up to 3 hours depending on your needs. You may see multiple members of our team and several tests may need to be done.

1. Initial GIMRAC appointment: The care team will evaluate your symptoms and create a care plan specific to your needs. After your initial appointment, the team may schedule additional tests and consultations with specialists.  

2. Follow up appointment: if required, your internal medicine specialists will see you to review results. This may be the final visit or additional appointments may be scheduled.

How to prepare for your visit:

Please arrive 10 minutes prior to your appointment to allow for registration with the GIMRAC Clinic.

Please bring with you the following items:

  • Ontario Health Card or other coverage.
  • A recent “Meds Check” (available from your local Pharmacist) or ALL of your medications for the Pharmacist to review.

  • Any other personal care items you require or normally use during the day (e.g. snacks).
