Youth volunteers add a dynamic component to the volunteer program. Volunteers must be:
- A minimum of 14 years of age and entering high school.
- Without exception, youth volunteers must complete 100 hours of services prior to a letter of reference or verification of hours for the 40-hour high school requirement.
Youth volunteers do not require a Criminal Reference check.
In the summer months the youth program is very active. However you must contact us in May in order to be considered for the summer program as spots do fill up very quickly. Limited spots are also available in the fall and winter months. Auxiliary Youth Scholarship Award:Each year, the Auxiliary to JBH makes available a $1,500 Scholarship for a youth volunteer who has contributed outstanding service to Joseph Brant Hospital. In order to qualify, the active volunteer must be in high school and accepted into a post-secondary program. A minimum of 200 hours of service hours at JBH is required to qualify.
