Make a Difference at Joseph Brant Hospital!

Joseph Brant Hospital is entering a new era in health care. In 2017 our new state-of-the-art patient tower will open, ensuring our community continues to receive exceptional care in a space designed for today's health care needs.

The Board of Governors, the governing body of Joseph Brant Hospital, is recruiting for 2 Governor positions. The Board provides strategic direction, management oversight and financial stewardship.

We are seeking candidates with a keen interest in hospital governance and the following professional expertise:

  • Accounting/Finance Designation
  • Information Management & Technology
  • Integrated Risk Management

Relevant past Board experience in either profit or not-for-profit organizations is required. Governor terms are for 2 years, renewable to a maximum of 6 years. Board members are volunteers.

About our Board of Governors

Absent from photo: Krista Attwood, Auxiliary Vice Chair, Dr. Bill Nisker, Medical Staff Association VP and Cheryl Williams, Chief Nursing Officer.

The Joseph Brant Hospital Board of Governors consists of:

  • 12 voting Governors who are elected by the members
  • 3 ex officio members who are entitled to vote (One appointee from the Municipal Council of the City of Burlington, the Chair or Vice Chair of the Hospital Foundation, and the Chair or Vice Chair of the Hospital Auxiliary)
  • 5 non-voting ex officio members (the President & Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Nursing Executive, the Chief of Staff, the President of the Medical Staff Association, and the Vice President of the Medical Staff Association)

The Board of Governors shall govern and oversee the management of the affairs of the Corporation. The Board, being accountable for quality, shall ensure mechanisms and policies are in place to provide a high quality of care for patients.
